About the Movie

The Thing from Another World is a 1951 American science fiction horror film directed by Christian Nyby, produced by Edward Lasker for Howard Hawks’ Winchester Productions, and based on the 1938 novella Who Goes There? by John W. Campbell. The title refers to its primary antagonist, a sentient alien plant-based lifeform discovered by a group of American scientists in the Antarctic.

The film stars Margaret Sheridan, Kenneth Tobey, Douglas Spencer, Robert Cornthwaite, James Arness, and William Schallert. It is generally considered one of the best films of the 1950s.
