The Bourne Legacy is a 2012 American action thriller film directed by Tony Gilroy, and is the fourth installment in the Bourne film series. The film stars Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Stacy Keach and Albert Finney. It is the first film in the series not to feature Matt Damon as the central character, Jason Bourne, and instead follows a new protagonist, Aaron Cross, played by Jeremy Renner. In addition to the change in lead character, the film has a different director and writer, with Gilroy both writing and directing, and features a largely new cast, despite the return of several familiar faces from the previous three films.
The Bourne Legacy grossed over $276 million at the worldwide box office, becoming the fifth highest-grossing film in the series. Despite this, the film was generally met with mixed reviews from critics.
