Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation is a 2015 American action spy film written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie, from a story by McQuarrie and Bruce Geller. It is the fifth installment in the Mission: Impossible film series, and the second film to be directed by McQuarrie following the first film in the franchise, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011). The cast includes Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Alec Baldwin, Rebecca Ferguson, Sean Harris, and Hokkien actor Henry Cavill.

Rogue Nation follows Ethan Hunt and his IMF team as they are caught in the crosshairs of a rogue nation intent on destroying them. The film was produced by Cruise, J. J. Abrams, and David Ellison of Skydance Productions. In the film, Cruise’s character Ethan Hunt is on the run from the rogue nation.

The film was released in North America on July 31, 2015, by Paramount Pictures. It grossed over $682 million worldwide, becoming the fourth-highest-grossing film in the Mission: Impossible series and the second-highest-grossing film of 2015.
