About the Movie

Doctor Sleep is a 2019 American supernatural horror film based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King, which is a sequel to King’s 1977 novel The Shining. The film, which serves as a direct sequel to The Shining, centers on adult Danny Torrance (Ewan McGregor), now working at a hospice and using his “shining” abilities to comfort the dying. He soon meets a girl with similar abilities named Abra Stone (Kyliegh Curran) who is being targeted by a group of nomadic psychopaths known as the True Knot, led by Rose the Hat (Rebecca Ferguson). The film was directed by Mike Flanagan from a screenplay he wrote with King, and stars McGregor, Curran, Ferguson, Carl Lumbly, Zahn McClarnon, Emily Alyn Lind, Bruce Greenwood, Jocelin Donahue, Alex Essoe, and Cliff Curtis.
